Zhang Mengxing Meets with the Chief Minister of Negeri Sabah, Malaysia

  On November 7, Zhang Mengxing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of MCC & China MCC and President of China MCC, met with the visiting delegation of Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Chief Minister of Negeri Sabah, Malaysia. They discussed the environmental improvement and the sea-fill project (TAED project) of Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, as well as other large infrastructure and livelihood projects such as the new international airport and public transport.

  Zhang Mengxing indicated that MCC was the longest-running construction force in China's iron and steel industry, serving as the pioneer and main force in this field. At present, actively adhering to the strategic positioning of "being the national team of metallurgical construction, the main force of infrastructure construction, and the frontrunner of emerging industries, and insisting on the road of high-tech and high-quality development in the long term", MCC had undertaken the design and construction tasks of more than 90% of domestic and 63% of the world's large iron and steel enterprises, being the world's largest and strongest metallurgical construction contractor and operation service provider. Thanks to the advantages in technology, talents, management and other fields accumulated in the past steel industry construction, MCC has transformed and upgraded, creating many classic projects in urban infrastructure, high-end housing construction, rail transit and environmental governance. Zhang Mengxing stressed that Malaysia is an important market for MCC in Southeast Asia. MCC has undertaken projects of W Hotel, MCKIP 3.5 Mt Integrated Steel Plant, and SAMALAJU intelligent steel demonstration project in Malaysia. This Tanjung Aru Road environmental improvement and reclamation project is of far-reaching strategic significance. In the future, MCC will cooperate with China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) to establish the project as soon as possible, organize a special meeting, and assign a special person to interact with the Owner of Malaysia to speed up the Project.

  Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal conveyed his heartfelt thanks to MCC for warm reception. He said that Negeri Sabah is rich in resources and rich in oil, palm oil and agricultural products; it is a strategic transportation center connecting China, Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand, Australia and other countries due to superior geographical location; it is famous for beautiful natural scenery and attracts about 4.3 million international tourists from China, South Korea, Japan, Germany every year; and Negeri Sabah has superior political policies and enjoys a high degree of autonomy. He pointed out that the policy support will be provided to MCC and CSIC, and hoped that the project would once again become a model of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and Malaysia.

  TAED executive director Datuk Seri Panglima Victor Paul, director of Negeri Sabah Bureau of Land Survey Datuk Shafar Ondi and competent personnel, Cai Wanyin, Liu Xingmi, Zhang Huilin and Zaki; relevant representatives of CSIC, Zhao Baohua and Liu Miao; Zhang Ye, MCC and China MCC Standing Committee of the CPC Committee, and Vice President of China MCC, as well as relevant personnel of subsidiaries including Yang Ruobing attended the meeting.
