On the morning of October 8, Guo Wenqing, the general manager of the company and the chairman of China Metallurgical Group, led a delegation to the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse to visit Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is visiting China. The two sides carried out extensive and in-depth exchanges on strengthening cooperation in Pakistan's metal mining, steel metallurgy and infrastructure construction and other fields.
Guo Wenqing expressed his pleasure to meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan in Beijing and was grateful to the Pakistani government for its support to MCC in the Pakistani enterprise project for many years. He also introduced two Fortune 500 companies, China Minmetals and China Metallurgical Group, and the basic situation since the implementation of the strategic restructuring. Guo Wenqing pointed out that China Minmetals, along with the growth of New China, has transformed from a single foreign trade enterprise into an industrial group with metal mining as its core business. MCC was born in the Ministry of Metallurgy and has undertaken 90% of China's metallurgical construction projects, and more than 60% of the world's metallurgical construction projects. MCC are veritable national teams for metallurgical construction. After the strategic reorganization of the two companies, the company has opened the entire industrial chain of metal minerals from resource acquisition, exploration, design, construction and operation to circulation and deep processing. It ranks No. 1 in the world's top 500 metals industry and is committed to building "China's first, world-class" metal mining group.
Guo Wenqing emphasized that MCC has invested in 17 large-scale mine projects in many countries around the world. Among them, the Saindak Copper-Gold Mine and the Duda Lead-Zinc Mine Project in Pakistan are operating well, and the company actively fulfills its social responsibilities to solve local employment issues, promote the local economy and the basic people's livelihood, and it has made recognized contributions. Guo Wenqing also introduced the relevant situation of MCC participating in the upgrading and expansion project of Pakistan Steel Corporation. Guo Wenqing stated that MCC has maintained long-term friendly cooperative relations with Pakistan, and takes on the ability and willingness to carry out more investment projects in the fields of mining, engineering and infrastructure construction in Pakistan, helping the Belt and Road and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. What's more, MCC has made positive contributions to the improvement of Pakistan's industry, social economy and people's livelihood.
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed gratitude to MCC for its contribution to improving the local economic level, the local people's livelihood and the development of science, education, culture and health for many years. The Saindak project proposed by MCC was given to specific issues such as the continuation of project resources and the development of surrounding mineral resources, the promotion of large-scale mining projects, and the upgrading and expansion projects of Pakistani Steel Corporation. He said that after returning to Pakistan, relevant ministries and commissions will be deployed to actively promote related matters, and will personally pay attention to the progress of the above projects. Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed that Pakistan welcomes more powerful and environmentally friendly Chinese companies such as MCC to invest in the value added of industrial industry and resource development in Pakistan, which will make more contributions to the economic development of the two countries.
