Guo Wenqing meeting with Jean-Sebastian Jacques, CEO of Rio Tinto Group

  On August 22, Guo Wenqing, the General Manager of the Company and Chairman of MCC, met with Jean-Sebastian Jacques, CEO of Rio Tinto Group and relevant personnel in Beijing. The two sides had a deep and friendly talk on strengthening the further cooperation in international mining projects.

  Guo Wenqing welcomed Jean-Sebastian Jacques and relevant personnel, and introduced the business development of China Minmetals in recent years and the operating results in the first half of this year. Guo Wenqing pointed out that China Minmetals has maintained stable growing business performance and improving situation in recent years, and has gained good development results. Especially in the background that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the integration of non-ferrous metals industry, as a leading metal and mining group in China, China Minmetals has stressed the mainstay business of metal minerals, and is going towards the goal of safeguarding the supply of national metal resources and building a world-class metal and mining group, which lays a good foundation for the deep cooperation and common development of China Minmetals and Rio Tinto Group in the future.

  Guo Wenqing emphasized that Rio Tinto Group, as one of the largest suppliers of resource exploitation and mineral products in the world, has maintained good communication and close cooperation with China Minmetals for many years. In recent years, China Minmetals has strengthened its strategic layout for domestic mineral resources and maintained high attention to international mining cooperation and resource development. Recently, the Exploration Joint Venture of China Minmetals and Rio Tinto planned by both sides, has been officially registered and licensed, which is a new start for the future cooperation between China Minmetals and Rio Tinto. It is hoped that the two sides will further increase the exploration and development of international and domestic resources on the basis of cooperation, expand cooperation depth for the iron ore trade around mineral ore trading center of 100 million-ton class in Caofeidian, and actively explore the available model of minmetals e-commerce platform and technical cooperation to promote their substantive cooperation in key areas with fruitful results and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

  Jean-Sebastian Jacques expressed his gratitude to the warm reception of Guo Wenqing and the support provided by China Minmetals to Rio Tinto Group. He briefly introduced the business performance of Rio Tinto Group in the first half of the year. Jean-Sebastian Jacques said that Rio Tinto Group is confident with the sustained and steady development of the Chinese economy despite the complicated current situation of international economic. As one of the most sincere and important partners of Rio Tinto Group, China Minmetals has kept cooperations with Rio Tinto Group, which will continue to strengthen. The registration of Exploration Joint Venture of China Minmetals and Rio Tinto Group is a major breakthrough for Sino-foreign joint ventures in the mining industry. It is hoped that the two sides will take their advantages to promote the deep integration of international metal mining field centering on their strengthening of cooperation and communication in iron ore trade, domestic resource exploration, overseas resource development and e-commerce platforms.

  The two sides also conducted extensive discussions on other innovative cooperation models.
