On the afternoon of April 25, Zhang Mengxing, MCC President and Deputy Secretary of MCC Party Committee, met with Sanjeev Gupta, executive chairman of the GFG Alliance, at the MCC Tower. The two sides exchanged views on the progress and further cooperation of Australia's LPS project.
Mr. Zhang extended his warm welcome to visiting Mr. Gupta and his delegation, and extended his congratulations to Mr. Gupta who attended the signing ceremony of important projects on the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. He said that since a grand launching ceremony for the LPS project was held in Whyalla, Australia last December, MCC's participating subsidiaries have attached great importance to the project, continuously optimized the plans, fully utilized the comprehensive strength of a national metallurgical construction team, and worked hard to turn the LPS project into the most intelligent and competitive comprehensive steel plant.
Mr. Gupta extended his appreciation to Mr. Zhang for his warm reception, and pointed out that GFG Alliance is ready to build a comprehensive iron and steel enterprise with upstream and downstream connectivity through the linkage of steel mills in Europe, India and Australia. GFG Alliance and MCC & CISDI have a rather close cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the further expansion of mutual cooperation. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation, give full play to their respective advantages in technology, resources and trade, and jointly cope with the complicated and changing external environment in an effort to promote common development.
Other attendees included Jiang Bifen, General Manager China of GFG Alliance, Tunis Jacobs Victor, Chief Operating Officer of LPS, James Baulderstone, Strategic Project Director at GFG Alliance, Zhang Ye, Vice President of MCC, and other heads of relevant enterprises and departments, namely Xiao Xuewen, Xu Yongjie, Zhang Yong, Hu Zhichun, Lyu Shuang, Liu Yong.
