On March 30th, in the company of Shanghai Baoye Chairman Bai Xiaohu, MCC Deputy General Manager Xu Xiangchun paid a visit to the leading body of the Danyang Municipal Party Committee. Both sides held cordial talks and deep communication on infrastructure construction and common planning for win-win cooperation, and exchanged opinions on further enhancing their cooperation on the Danyang Lian Lake Water City Project.
Xu Xiangchun first introduced the basic information of MCC, pointing out that it is the world’s biggest and strongest metallurgical engineering construction contractor and metallurgical enterprise operation service provider, ranking 290th in the Fortune 500. In 2016, the two Fortune 500 enterprises China Minmetals and MCC carried out a strategic recombination. After the recombination, the new China Minmetals was approved by the State Council to take a place in the second batch of state-owned asset investment companies, and applied itself to creating a metallic ore enterprise group which is ‘First in China and first-class in the world’. In recent years, MCC has actively practiced its strategic positioning of being the ‘national team of metallurgical construction, the main force of capital construction and the pacesetter of emerging industries, insisting on taking the road of high-tech construction in the long term’, succeeded in transforming into non-steel fields, obtained enviable performance in such fields as high-end housing construction, underground comprehensive pipe galleries, smart city, beautiful village & sponge city technology and theme parks, and completed numerous large-scale projects in emerging industries. Particularly in the field of theme parks, MCC is the only enterprise in China to hold the theme park design and construction qualification. It has succeeded in finishing many super large-scale cultural theme parks including Universal Studios Singapore, Shanghai Disney Resort and Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Kingdom. At present, such projects as Nanjing Dragon Valley, Huai’an Journey to the West Theme Park and Universal Studios Beijing are under construction.
Bai Xiaohu then introduced the development history and basic information of Shanghai Baoye, as well as the details of its successful transformation in recent years. He pointed out that Shanghai Baoye has made efforts to boost its enterprise reform, achieved transformation and upgrading, unceasingly expanded its operational fields and insisted on technological innovation, devoting itself to creating a construction enterprise group with the greatest competitive strength, a complete industrial chain, rich reserve conditions and advantages in technology, personnel, equipment and management in fields including theme parks, high-tech electronic plants, metallurgy, housing construction, energy conservation, environmental protection and rail transit. As such, Shanghai Baoye is completely able to make contributions to the urban construction and economic development of Danyang City.
Danyang Municipal Party Committee Chen Keke welcomed the delegation of Deputy General Manager Xu Xiangchun, then pointed out that Danyang is located in the Taihu Basin area in the south of Jiangsu Province, situating it in the economic circle corridor of the Yangtze River Delta and Shanghai. Danyang has been rated as an Advanced County (City) of National Scientific and Technological Progress Work, one of the Top 100 Counties (Cities) of Comprehensive Strength in Scientific and Technological Progress, and National Demonstration County (City) for the Popularization of Science for five consecutive years. In 2013, Danyang's ‘two bases’ level was honored with the National Advanced County (City) Title and named a modern demonstration project. Danyang has simultaneously been carrying out industrial transformation, and under the guide of 'Four Comprehensiveness' strategic layout and 'Five Development Concepts', will let its new advantages take root, achieve new and excellent performance, spare no efforts to create a famous modernized industrial and trade city in the south of Jiangsu with ‘strong economy, rich people, beautiful environment and highly social civilization’ full of innovative energy, and comprehensively create a well-off society at a higher level.
Finally, both parties conducted an in-depth discussion of the Danyang Lian Lake Water City Project. Danyang Municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary and Mayor Huang Chunnian introduced the situation of this project and expressed his appreciation for the huge amount of kinetic energy that has been released by the strategic recombination between MCC and China Minmetals. Danyang is currently accelerating the pace of its ‘ecological city’ construction. He hopes that MCC will give full play to its strengths in such fields as talents, technology, management and funds, and widely participate in the diverse construction of Danyang City. He also hopes that MCC will introduce the advanced models and precious experience that it has accumulated in the process of building Danyang’s domestic sibling cities, enhance the connection between both parties, accelerate the landing of projects and jointly advance the cooperation process of both sides.
