He pointed out that MCC is a steel industry pioneer and builder of New China which is ranked 290th in the Fortune 500 and 8th in the top 250 global contractors. Under the new normal of economic development, the MCC Group works towards being the 'national team of metallurgical construction, the main force of infrastructure construction and the pacesetter of emerging industries, insisting on taking the road of high-tech construction in the long term', and steadily develops project contracting, real estate development, equipment manufacturing, resource development and another four businesses. It has the most 'double special grade' qualifications, as well as 13 scientific research and design units, 17 national R&D centers and key laboratories, more than 53,000 scientific and technological personnel and 18,000 valid patents, ranking fourth among central enterprises. MCC focuses on the national 'One Belt and One Road' strategy and vigorously develops international markets, having cooperated with 49 countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Zhang Mengxing added that 'a friend in need is a friend indeed'. China and Cambodia have maintained close cooperation relations on regional affairs and international problems in various historical periods, providing each other with mutual support and help. Although they are not close neighbors, the people of China and Cambodia have developed a profound friendship. As a central enterprise, the MCC Group always follows the Party and actively implements the decisive arrangements of the Chinese government. We have an obligation to complete the Tianrui (Cambodia) Special Agricultural, Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone as a project of common concern to the bilateral leaders, and we will exert our advantages in such fields as technology, management, design and construction to make it a model project of cooperation between our two countries. Cambodia is MCC’s key overseas market, and we establish an office in the country and actively participate in construction in such fields as Cambodia's infrastructure, roads and bridges, and steel plants, thereby contributing to Cambodia's economic and social development. He hopes that Director Weng Sakun and other leaders at different levels, as well as friends from all circles, will offer great support and help.
Weng Sakun thanked President Zhang Mengxing for his warm reception and pointed out that under the great support and help of such friendly countries as China, Cambodia has enjoyed certain economic development, basically solved the problems of food and clothing, and now also exports agricultural products to China. As the first special agricultural zone in Cambodia, the Tianrui Special Agricultural, Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone is a mutual project witnessed and signed by the bilateral leaders, and also an important project in the 'One Belt and One Road' strategy, thereby playing a great role in Cambodia's agricultural development, and developing Cambodia from an ancient to a modern agricultural country. Such construction projects as infrastructure and storage are the basis of the Special Agricultural Zone; they will decide its future development, and they require the strong and international MCC Group to become involved in their designing, planning and construction. MCC has obtained remarkable achievements in many countries and regions, and we have reason to believe it can build the Tianrui Special Agricultural, Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone into a project with international standards recognized by the bilateral leaders. The MCC Group has a wide development space in Cambodia, and the Agricultural Department will strive to support MCC’s development in the country. We also hope that MCC will fully exert its strengths and advantages, and actively participate in Cambodia's economic and social development, contributing to making it a beautiful country.
