The Wuqing Embankment Project, undertaken by MCC1, is one of the first batch of sponge city pilot projects in China. It is the first "sponge" riverbank and the riverbank with the highest greening ratio in Hubei Province. It is 7.5 km long and covers a total area of 1.3548 million m2. MCC1 developed and applied the "key technology for the construction of multifunctional urban ecological embankments in harmony with water". For the first time, it adopted the "embankment-like but not embankment" micro-topography technique on the first-level main embankment of the Yangtze River to create an ecological riverbank that integrates "city, river beach and embankment".
