On June 11, China MCC convened a hybrid (onsite plus video) work safety video conference. Participants thoroughly studied the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches on disaster prevention, mitigation and relief, communicated requirements from the national work safety video conference organized by the Work Safety Committee of the State Council and the central enterprise work safety video conference hosted by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and arranged key work safety tasks. Chen Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China MCC, presided over the conference and delivered concluding remarks. Xiao Peng and Wang Bo, Vice Presidents of China MCC, attended and put forward work requirements. Wang Zirui, Deputy Chief Engineer and work safety Director of China MCC, arranged work safety tasks for the next phase. 

The conference emphasized the following points. First, raise political awareness, recognize severe situations, and strengthen political consciousness for coordinated development and safety governance. We must firmly establish and practice a correct view of political achievements, bear in mind that the best political achievement is zero safety accidents and the greatest responsibility is safeguarding enterprise security. Prioritize proactive risk prevention, avoid superficial actions that overemphasize visible achievements while neglecting precautionary work, and properly balance development and safety priorities. Second, adopt targeted measures and carry out comprehensive rectification to assess and guard against systemic safety risks from the perspective of overall business development. Comprehensive investigation and rectification of various potential hazards must be conducted. Solid progress should be made to deepen the work safety Month campaign. Strict management of overseas project safety should be enforced to shore up overseas work safety defense lines. Safety risks in emerging sectors must be systematically sorted out and managed with targeted control measures. Third, focus on flood season risk prevention and highlight key area management, adopting forceful measures to ensure safe flood season operations. We must thoroughly grasp the core essence of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s “Seven Persistences” concerning disaster prevention, mitigation and relief to guarantee stable and controllable work safety conditions. Onsite management and control must be strictly strengthened, various disaster-related accidents closely guarded against, emergency duty arrangements rigorously implemented, and overall emergency response capacity comprehensively enhanced. 

At the conference, participants collectively watched warning education documentaries on national work safety accident cases. Relevant subsidiaries conducted traceability analysis and reflection based on full-chain review of individual accident cases. 

Relevant department heads and principal leaders together with relevant staff of subsidiaries based in MCC Tower attended the conference at the main venue. A total of 286 video sub-venues were set up across 30 subsidiaries and their subordinate (branch) companies, with 2,616 conference participants in total.
