On February 15, Zhang Zhaoxiang, Party Group member and Deputy General Manager of China Minmetals, MCC Party Committee Secretary and MCC Group General Manager, led a delegation visited Sanya, Hainan Province, to meet with Tong Daochi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, and Party Secretary of Sanya. They had a broad and in-depth exchange of views on the investment and cooperation in multiple areas, including municipal infrastructure, culture and tourism, the health and well-being industry, featured theme projects, metal mineral resources, and logistics and trade.
Zhang briefly introduced the development of China Minmetals and MCC Group. He noted that the restructuring of China Minmetals and MCC Group was successful. Currently, ranking the 109th among the Fortune Global 500, China Minmetals owns a trade network across the globe, reasonably diversified asset portfolio, and can effectively respond to periodic fluctuations in the metals and mining sector, and achieve sustainable and steady development. At present, MCC Group has been successfully transformed, and is endeavored to be the industry leader in China's metallurgical construction, capital construction, and in emerging industries. MCC Group has been insisting on hi-tech–driven development at high quality, and has rich experience in towns of featured industries, culture and tourism, beautiful countryside construction, and the health and well-being industry. According to Zhang, the restructured China Minmetals highly values the cooperation with Hainan Province, and is planning to set up the regional headquarters of China Minmetals in Hainan. As early as in 2015, the MCC Hainan Investment & Development Co., Ltd. was established, aiming to be the benchmark in the construction of the pilot free trade zone and the free trade zone (port) with Chinese characteristics in Hainan. He emphasized that, Hainan is endowed with bountiful resources, and is now undergoing rapid urban development. Therefore, there is plenty potential for two parties to cooperate, in the areas such as infrastructure construction, operation, management, and construction of industrial parks. In the future, China Minmetals and MCC Group will be proactively devoted to the urban construction of Sanya, Hainan Province, and construct brand projects, to play a part in the construction of the free trade zone (port).
Tong Daochi expressed welcome to Zhang Zhaoxiang for visiting Sanya at the beginning of the New Year, and introduced the social and economic development in Sanya. He said that both China Minmetals and MCC Group are major enterprises with great strength and good reputation. Sanya is at the forefront of building Hainan Free Trade Zone in an all-round way. It is endowed with favorable resources in tourism, logistics and trade, and expects large-scale SOEs such as China Minmetals and MCC Group to join in and contribute to its development. He noted, hope more projects for start-up, business promotion and service will be created in Sanya, through government-business cooperation. In addition, continue to promote smooth implementation of cooperation projects, to make progress with joint efforts and to create mutual benefits. At the same time, communication and cooperation in more areas and at higher levels are also expected.
Before the meeting, accompanied by Xie Qinglin, Deputy Mayor of Sanya, Zhang Zhaoxiang and the delegation visited Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal, Atlantis Sanya, Sunshine Insurance Finance Plaza, and other places. After the meeting, the two parties also communicated on the details in cooperation.
Chen Xiaoya, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sanya Municipal Committee and director of the Rural Work Committee, Xie Qinglin, Deputy Mayor of Sanya, Bi Hongling, Deputy Secretary General of Sanya Municipal Government, Qu Yang, MCC Group & MCC Party Standing Committee Member and MCC Vice-President, and other related personnel from China Minmetals and MCC Group including Wang Wei, Yang Kui, Liang Jianbo, Chen Shaorong, Huang Dongmei, Wang Feng were also present at the meeting.
