On March 11th, China Minmetals General Manager and Party Organization Deputy Secretary Guo Wenqing met with Zhuzhou Municipal Party Secretary and Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee Mao Tengfei. Both parties exchanged opinions in terms of further strengthening government and enterprise cooperation. The meeting was attended by Group Company Vice General Manager and Party Organization Member Li Fuli and Zhang Zhaoxiang, Zhuzhou Municipal Party Standing Committee Member and Executive Vice Mayor He Jianbo, and Vice Mayor He Zhaohui.
Guo Wenqing welcomed Mao Tengfei and his delegation, reviewed the friendly cooperation history of both parties and expressed gratitude for the concern and support given by the Zhuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to the development of China Minmetals’ enterprises in Zhuzhou. He pointed out that after successfully implementing a strategic recombination with MCC, China Minmetals’ overall enterprise strength has been further strengthened, and the new China Minmetals’ total asset size has reached RMB750 billion, with financial management assets of RMB800 billion. In 2016, operation revenue of RMB440 billion was realized. The new China Minmetals has been approved by SASAC to become an experimental unit of state-owned capital investment companies in the metal mining field, and the guarantor of the safety of national metal mineral resources. Hunan is the hometown of nonferrous metals and a place of strategic importance for China Minmetals’ business development, as China Minmetals’ total registered assets in Hunan amounted to RMB260 billion during the period of the ‘12th Five-Year Plan’. In the nonferrous metals smelting and processing field, Zhuzhou occupies an important position in Hunan and even nationwide. China Minmetals has many subsidiary enterprises in Zhuzhou, especially such enterprises as the Zhuzhou Smelter Group Company Limited and Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co,, Ltd., which have made contributions to the economic and social development of Zhuzhou City through striving to operate and constant development over recent years, but have also faced difficulties and problems. Against the overall backdrop of the current deepening of the reform of state-owned enterprises, the enterprises in Zhuzhou will combine their own strategic positioning and strategic layout in Zhuzhou City and even Hunan Province, further quicken their transformation and upgrading, promote the better integration of their development quality and drive a new round of the big development of Zhuzhou City and even Hunan Province. China Minmetals will take the opportunity of meeting with Hunan Provincial Governor Xu Dazhe, engage in comprehensive in-depth communication concerning circumstances, exchange opinions and quicken implementation. It is hoped that both parties will further expand their cooperation in such fields as infrastructure construction and strive to make great contributions to the development of Zhuzhou and even Hunan Province, thereby realizing mutual benefits and win-win results while researching and solving development problems in the non-ferrous metal industry.
Mao Tengfei thanked Guo Wenqing for his warm reception and China Minmetals for their long-term support of the economic and social development of Zhuzhou City. He then reviewed the friendly cooperation history of both parties, put forward suggestions for the reform and development of the Zhuzhou Smelter Group Company Limited and Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd. in the next step, and expressed his hope that both parties will carry out deeper cooperation in the field of infrastructure construction. He pointed out that in future cooperation, the Zhuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government will create a better environment and provide better services for the development of China Minmetals’ enterprises in Hunan Province. He added that General Manager Guo Wenqing is welcome to visit Zhuzhou City to undertake an investigation and survey.
