History
1. From October of 1969 to July of 1970: Jianyang Geo-technical Research Company of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry
Chengdu Geo-technical Research Institute of the MCC Group was formerly known as the Jianyang Geo-technical Research Company of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. In October of 1969, the State Council issued a directive for academies and institutes located in Beijing to move to other cities. In compliance with this decree and to meet the metallurgical construction requirements of the national defense, the Jianyang Geo-technical Research Company of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry was incorporated by the head office of Geo-technical Research Company of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and part of Shenyang Geo-technical Research Company of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. The organizational structure was reestablished proportionately and the company moved to Jianyang in Sichuan Province. The Ministry of Metallurgical Industry managed the company according to the file numbered (69) YEJUNSHENGJIDI1147HAOWEN.
2. From July of 1970 to June of 1986: Chengdu Geo-technical Research Company of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry
The company was renamed Chengdu Geo-technical Research Company of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and was managed by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry according to the file numbered (70) YEJUNSHENGJIDI486HAOWEN.
3. From June of 1986 to June of 1999: Chengdu Geo-technical Research Academy of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry
It was then renamed Chengdu Geo-technical Research Academy of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and was managed by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry then by the National Metallurgical Industry Bureau according to the file numbered (86) YEJIHANZIDI200HAOWEN.
4. From June of 1999 to the present: Chengdu Geo-technical Research Institute of the MCC Group
Chengdu Geo-technical Research Academy of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry separated from the National Metallurgical Industry Bureau and was then managed by the MCC Group according to the files numbered [1999] 1HAOWEN and 8HAOWEN, issued by the Bureau of the Communist Party Central Committee and the State Council Bureau, and the file numbered CAIJIZI [1999] 42HAOWEN issued by the Ministry of Finance. It was renamed Chengdu Geo-technical Research Institute of the MCC Group according to the file numbered [1999] ZHONGYEJIGUANZIDI27HAOWEN.
Current Situation
After separating from the National Metallurgical Industry Bureau in 1999, the institute came under the management of the MCC Group. Adhering to the government’s request for the reform of geo-technical research and design units, it transformed from a mere undertaking into a state-owned technological enterprise in 2001. In September of 2002, its headquarters moved from Jianyang to No.35 XIERDAO Street in Chengdu.
The institute’s capital assets are RMB 22.85 million with a net value of RMB 10.44 million. It has a registered capital of RMB 11.16 million.
There are 496 on-list employees, 450 on-post employees, 46 off-post employees and 237 retirees. 180 employees are various certified technical professionals, including 25 senior professionals, 75 secondary professionals and 80 elementary professionals. There are 3 chartered architects, 2 chartered structural engineers, 8 chartered geo-technical engineers, 2 chartered supervision engineers and 5 engineering testing engineers. 215 of them are Communist Party members (including 110 retirees), and 80 are Communist Youth League members.
The institute possesses general Grade A Qualification for Geo-technical Research, Grade A Qualification for Surveying and Mapping, Grade A Qualification for Engineering Consultation, Grade A Qualification for Geo-hazard Prevention Engineering Geo-technical Research, Grade B Supervision Qualification, Grade B Qualification for Groundwork Engineering Contraction, Grade C Qualification for Construction Engineering Design and Grade B Qualification for Pile Foundation Testing.
Currently, the institute has 18 project departments, 4 branch institutes in Tianjin, Shanghai, Panzhihua, and Ningbo, and other affiliated subsidiaries.
In April of 2002, the institute was granted the ISO9001: 2000 Certificate of Quality Management System.
