Making Portable Water Available in Poverty-stricken Areas
Restricted by water resources, the residents in Longxiang Town of Tongnan County in Chongqing Municipality used to drink unclean hard water in the long term, leaving themselves exposed to the serious threat to their health. Drinking clean water at an early date has been the expectation of the local residents from generation to generation. Having shouldered the responsibility to alleviate poverty in the town for years, CISDI donated money for building a water supply project in the town, ending the history that local residents drank hard water, and making “water of happiness” available for every household. CISDI’s charitable deed has been highly eulogized by local residents.

Zhenxi Town, one of the major towns involved in the vast relocation program devised for the Three Gorges Dam, is a regular recipient of the aids from CISDI. CISDI exchanged views with relevant local officials about the construction in the reservoir area, and paid the fact-finding visit to the town to check for the status quo of the relocated households and the difficulties they have met in “settling down and getting rich”. CISDI executives reiterate that CISDI colleagues must look at regular assistance as an important work content, assist the relocated households from the Three Gorges in improving their skills and overall quality, and do practical matters to help the relocated households “move out, settle down and get rich”. To date, to keep its commitment to the corporate social responsibility, CISDI has built a new practical technology training center for the relocated households, purchased teaching facilities, and designed the commercial property plan to promote local urbanization, creating a comfortable environment for the new life of the relocated households.
