Zheng Yongliang and his wife, who were townsfolk of Tianjin City, sent a bread-and-butter letter to Huabei Branch of China First Metallurgical Construction Corporation (CFMCC) on August 14, 2009. In the letter, they expressed the sincere gratitude to the great financial support extended by the employees.
Zheng Yongliang was a driver recruited by Huabei Branch of CFMCC, who lived in Tianjin. Unfortunately, he suffered from purulent meningitis and nerve deafness in April 2009. In order to cure the disease, he has not only spent all the deposits of the family, but also borrowed an amount of over RMB 100,000 yuan, and even sold the residence. Hearing about this information, the leaders of Huabei Branch of CFMCC paid a keen attention to this matter. According to the relevant regulations promulgated by the State government, the company granted him an allowance for destitute employee, with an amount of RMB 1,000 yuan. Meanwhile the company organized donation activities among the employees and the contractors, and eventually raised a fund of RMB 19,600 yuan for Zheng Yongliang. During this period, the employees of the company conducted quite many visits to the hospital and the residence of Zheng. Such a deep friendship between a Wuhan company and a townsfolk of Tianjin has turned out to be a much-told tale in the local area.
