Huatian Engineering & Technology Corporation of MCC (HTC) and Huangshi Municipal Government signed a BOT Contract for Tuanchengshan Sewage Treatment Plant on January 22, 2010.
The contracted plant will be utilized for treatment of the living sewage from the new district of Huangshi City, covering a service area of 24 square kilometers for a population of 130,000 persons. The facility is designed with a daily capacity of 80,000 cubic meters of sewage. Under the first phase of the project, the daily treatment capability will be 40,000 cubic meters, with a total investment of about RMB 77.5 million yuan. The tail water after treatment will be complied with Grade I (A) Standard as stipulated in the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (GB 18918-2002). The concession period of the project is 27 years, including one year for construction. According to the agreement, HTC shall be responsible for investment, construction, operation and management of the facility, and shall voluntarily transfer it to Huangshi Municipal Government upon expiration of the concession period.
Taking sewage treatment business as a breakthrough point, HTC has speeded up its pace for industrial transformation in recent years. Following successes gained in Shandong and Anhui, HTC has broke into the water market of Hubei Province for the first time. Therefore this contract will be a new "landmark" project for HTC’s strategic planning on sewage treatment business.
